Welcome to my counselling practice
Experienced. Qualified. Supportive.
It takes courage to admit that something is wrong, and even more courage to seek professional help. If you're in need of support, I'm here to help. As a qualified integrative counselor, I am honest, compassionate, and empathetic in my approach. I have experience working with individuals from all backgrounds and walks of life, helping them feel heard, validated, and empowered.
I pride myself on being a nurturing, conscientious, and reflective therapist. These qualities have enabled me to support my clients in their healing journey, providing them with the tools and confidence to overcome their inner pain.
Whether you're dealing with anxiety, trauma, overwhelm or low self-esteem. My integrative approach combines various therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and person-centered therapy, to meet your individual needs.
My goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive space for you to explore your thoughts and emotions. Together, we'll work towards helping you achieve greater self-awareness, improved coping skills, and a more fulfilling life.
How I work with clients
As an integrative counsellor I am versatile in my approach and offer clients a reliable, supportive and purposeful working relationship. I will empathetically listen to you, to understand your frame of reference in the world, so that I am able to support you and tailor therapy around your goals.
Therapy is an explorative space for you to feel comfortable and talk about the things that are difficult to share with family or friends. It is a collaborative working relationship that when built on trust, can enable great healing and clarity to take place.
During therapy we can work on moving past the pain, understanding what is happening for you and work on feeling better about yourself. Self exploration in a non-judgemental space can accelerate self-awareness, which is the key to better understanding and accepting of yourself, which in turn can galvanise positive change.
Counselling and psychotherapy
Clients describe me as empathic, non-judgemental and a warm listener. If you need your feelings validated and someone to actively listen to you and work with you to achieve your therapeutic goals, I will work with you and support you.
Below are my specialist areas of working.
Working with trauma
When trauma is deeply set in, it can feel impossible to begin to undo the pain, let go of the shame and be released from the suffering that has been absorbed. In therapy, opening the door on past trauma within a safe, held and supportive space can ignite new energy for healing and provide opportunities for change. I have been privileged to share this journey with clients and see how they release and let go of their past by finding peace and wisdom within themselves to live life their way.
Anxiety
Anxiety is our greatest protector in life and at the same time can be our worse enemy. Learning to understand anxiety and exploring what is happening for you when you feel anxious and why; can provide valuable insight into effectively dealing with it.Â
Anxiety optimises our ability to react and places us in survival mode.  During this process our executive functioning and ability to reason gets shut down. Learning how to calm the body and take back control is instrumental to our wellbeing and is a skill we can learn with practice.
Self-esteem
What messages were you told as a child from parents, teachers, friends, relatives? If these were negative and have been absorbed and not questioned, they will have had a detrimental impact on what you believe about yourself.
Through therapy we can uncover core beliefs, explore where they have come from and decide if they are helpful to hold onto.
Self-esteem can be built and nurtured and once this journey has begun clients are able change how they see themselves in their world and empower themselves.
My services
In-person counselling
I am based in Cambridge off Mill Road and St Ives.
In-person counselling is ideal for those who need a space outside of their normal life to experience therapy. This can help if confidentiality and privacy is difficult to come by. In-person therapy can provide a place to feel safe and confident in exploring personal and intimate thoughts, feelings and experiences.
Online therapy via Zoom
Online therapy is easy and convenient and according to recent research (BACP 2021), it is as beneficial as in-person counselling. I have worked a lot online and have found forming a collaborative and empowering human connection can happen as easily online as it does in-person. If you are interested in online therapy please get in touch.
Walk and talk therapy
Nature, exercise and therapy combined can be very fulfilling and ideal for those who want to try something new. I recommend being relatively fit, we will be walking for an hour or so depending on pace. I etch out an hour and a half from my diary to provide plenty of time to get round a chosen route. I also recommend wellies, it can be very muddy. If you are interested and want more information please don't hesitate to contact me.
Background
I have always been fascinated by the complexities of the mind and human behavior, which led me to study Cognitive Science at university. Through the British Psychological Society pathway, I gained knowledge in psychology, philosophy, and neuroscience, which has been invaluable in my career.
I hold a therapeutic integrative counselling diploma that allows me to provide clients with a personalized approach that is tailored to their unique needs. This approach combines various therapeutic methods such as person-centred, psychodynamic, and cognitive-behavioral therapy, which enables me to offer a flexible and holistic approach to my clients.
To ensure my work is current and ethical, I regularly undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses and workshops, which allows me to enhance my skills and competencies across various therapeutic subjects.
My passion for psychology and helping others motivates me to continue learning and growing as a therapist, and I strive to provide my clients with the best possible care.
